There durability and hardiness are second to none , ad they can withstand spills and weights lasting over 20 years.
Epoxy Floor Paints
In order to get the right look for your flooring specification, there are a plethora of colors and finishes that you can consider.
There are three different types of epoxy floor paint, solvent-based, water-based, and solid. There are also pre-tinted and metallic epoxy floor coatings.
Pre-tinted and Metallic
This option can supply you with a most decorative finish. You can have options like colored flakes that are scattered before the final layer coating is applied to give you that sparkle effect.
This is the purest form of epoxy you can get. It does not have any solvent present. These are usually the more expensive option, and they harden very quickly, so they need expert handling.
A solvent-based epoxy has up to 60% substantial epoxy resin present. They are able to penetrate a concrete floor really well and come in an array of colors. As the solvents present tare hazardous, you need to wear a respirator and keep people and pets away.
Similar to solvent-based, water-based epoxies have up to 60% substantial epoxy present. The benefit of this type of epoxy is that there are no solvents present. Therefore you don’t have the problems you might have with water-based.

Drill with stirring bit
Flat-edge shovel or scraper
Power scrubber with a brush attachment or long-handled acid brush

The Application Process
Step 1. Clean All Surfaces
Make sure all the surface area you are planning on covering is clean and debris free. If you have to use a flat edge scraper to remove and uneven concrete casts or hardened debris present on the floor. Use a degreasing solution with a stiff brush to scrub away any grease or oil stains.
Step 2. Wet The Floor
Using a hosepipe wet the whole of the floor surface. Then working in 3 to 5-meter squares, utilize an industrial scrubbing machine with brush and degreaser across the whole floor. Ensure you get right in the corners and wall edges with a scrubbing brush if required.
Once the floor is cleaned using a rubber squeegee to pull all the excess water into a pool. Use your wet and dry vacuum to remove that. Dispose of the solutions leftover responsibly.
Step 3. Prepare Acid Etching Mixture
Have a gallon of water ready in a plastic watering can with your respirator on pour 12 ounces of muriatic acid mixed to 32 percent into 15 cups of water. Mix the solution thoroughly then sprinkle over the required area.
Step 4. Etch and Scrub
Using a long-handled acid scrubbing brush, scrub the entire floor to make sure it is acid etched. Rinse the floor thoroughly to remove any excess that allows it to dry over 12 hours.
Step 5. Epoxy Coating Mix
Following the manufacturer’s instructions using a stand power drill, mix the two compounds together. Ensure the mixture is thoroughly mixed.
Step 6. Perimeter Application
Star by applying around the perimeter of the area being installed. Use duct tape to ensure the mixture doesn’t ingress into areas you need to keep clean.
Step 7. Epoxy Application
Using a floor roller, paint the floor with the mixture. Try only to use the bottom half of the roller to paint with, so you don’t overload the roller. Work in 4-foot square areas. Remove any roller marks and let the first coat dry.
Step 8. Apply A Second Coat
If you are looking for a non-slip floor finish, add a non-skid coating to the second application. Alternatively, if you want sparkle flakes, add them at this stage also.
Step 9. Finish
To finish off, you might want to create a border/skirting board look around the are. This also provides a protective base.
So there you have it the process of applying a full epoxy floor in your desired location.
